Welcome to The Misogyny Podcast, today we have a guest speaker and my listeners will probably sneer at the fact that this guest happens to be female.
But before you change the station, hear me out: this is a story of hope.
Lisa is our guest today and she is a real-life example of what happens when women accept their inferiority to males and put in the work to shape themselves according to male standards and expectations.
So let’s welcome her to the show.
Welcome, Lisa.
LISA: Thank you for having me.
HOST: Of course. I’m happy to share such an inspiring story with my listeners. Why don’t you start by telling us what kind of woman you were in young adulthood?
LISA: (nervous laughter) Okay, although I should say that I’m not entirely proud of this part.
HOST: That’s perfectly understandable, we won’t attack you for your past here.
LISA: Okay, well…after High School, I broke up with my high school sweetheart of four years and left my hometown to attend a state university and I majored in women’s studies. I realize now that was a mistake, but it’s what I thought was right at the time.
I was living in a large US city that was very liberal, which I now realize was a horrible environment for me. Being oblivious to this at that time, I continued to date guys from my university and it never went past casual hook ups and lots of partying. I couldn’t figure out why no one wanted to get serious with me.
However, looking back, I’m sure it had a lot to do with the fact that I was very overweight and also had a dominant and bossy attitude that surely was making me very unattractive to men.
HOST: That’s become so common today, unfortunately. Women think they can just let their appearances go and try to be the dominant personality in a relationship with a man, and they learn by trial and error just how flawed that thinking is.
LISA: Exactly! I feel like I had been indoctrinated to think that the person I was back then was acceptable and that I should be attracting serious partners, but the fact that it didn’t happen kind of speaks for itself.
HOST: It certainly does. Tell us, Lisa, when did you finally realize the changes you needed to make to find a good man?
LISA: Well, I reconnected with an old friend from high school who was happily married by that time and pregnant with her third child already. We spent some time catching up and it became pretty clear that she had all the things I wanted, but was struggling to find.
She told me the first thing I needed to work on was my appearance. Together, we set a goal for me to lose 70 lbs and put together a diet and exercise plan for the following six months.
HOST: That’s fantastic, what a great friend you reconnected with. What kind of diet and exercise regime did you agree to?
LISA: It was pretty strict in order to get results fast. I immediately started on a 1,000 calorie per day diet, which was brutal for the first month, I’m not even going to sugarcoat it.
We started a little more humanely with the exercise, because of how out of shape I was. For the first month, I had to get at least 30 minutes of cardio but I was free to do whatever activity I felt like to hit that goal. That way it felt like I had some freedom.
HOST: That makes so much sense. Did you hit your goal by the six month mark?
LISA: Yes, I did. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to go down 5 dress sizes and the transformation was life-changing.
HOST: No doubt. How did you find men were reacting to your new look?
LISA: The increase in attention from men was tenfold. But I was concerned that it was limited to a sexual context. I wasn’t looking for more unsatisfying casual hookups. I wanted to find a life partner to marry, so I turned to my same friend for advice.
HOST: A very wise move, what did your friend tell you?
LISA: She told me to stop hooking up on the first date immediately and indefinitely. She said it was important not to be too easy, because men would lose interest fast. If I wanted any kind of respect, I needed to wait to get physically intimate.
She also told me to stop consuming pornography of any kind and told me masturbation was strictly off the table. She asked me how I thought I was supposed to attract a mate if I was constantly sexually satisfying myself?
I hadn’t thought of it like that before, but it suddenly made a lot of sense.
HOST: How did listening to this advice work for you?
LISA: It changed my life. About a year after the transformation my friend helped me achieve, I met Derek. He’s the man of my dreams and we are now happily married with a child and are currently trying for our second of what I hope to be many little ones.
HOST: Wow, that’s amazing. What an inspiring story you’ve shared here today. Tell us a little bit about how things work in your household with Derek. Your friend’s advice is still important to follow now that you’re married. Do you still abstain from pornography and masturbation?
LISA: Absolutely, 100%. I realize it’s necessary to be a good wife to Derek and I never feel the need to assert myself in any domestic situation we find ourselves in. He makes all of the important decisions and I devote my time to raising his children how he sees fit. I feel so fulfilled and my life is exactly how I want it now.
I give him my time, understanding, patience, effort and body and in return he shelters, feeds and instructs me on what I should do and how it should be done. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
HOST: Such an amazing story of restored femininity. Thank you for sharing with us today, Lisa. We wish you a wonderful and happy life with Derek and his children.
